The 2022 National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars review results have been made public. It’s worth celebrating that Prof. Youqing Wang is on the list of successful candidates. Particularly, this is the first time that the faculty at the College of Information Science and Technology has been awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
Youqing Wang, Ph.D., Professor, IET Fellow, is currently the Dean of the College of Information Science and Technology. Prof. Wang has published more than 120 SCI journal papers, including more than 60 SCI journal papers as the first author or corresponding author in the past five years. These papers were published in prestigious journals such as IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, etc. SCI journals have cited his papers over 2000 times, and the cited authors include more than 30 academicians at home and abroad. Prof. Wang presided over more than 20 scientific research projects and served as the editorial boards member of 9 international journals and the chairman of the program committees of 8 academic conferences. At the same time, he is the first scholar from the Chinese Mainland to be awarded the Best Paper Award of “Journal of Process Control” and ADCHEM Young Author Award. He also won the second prize of the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, the second prize of the Beijing Natural Science Award, and the second prize of the Shandong Natural Science Award.
The funded project is titled "Safety Assessment of Intelligent Chemical Systems". The research content includes state monitoring of chemical processes, quality optimization of chemical products, and pollutant detection and prediction. It aims to guarantee the safety of production, quality, and environmental in chemical systems. The theories and methods such as multivariate statistics, knowledge graphs, and reinforcement learning will be utilized and explored in this project. The expected achievements will be applied to tire enterprises for avoiding casualties, improving tire performance and vulcanization efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars is a special fund approved by the State Council in 1994 and administered by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. It supports the young scholars under the age of 45 who have made outstanding achievements in basic researches to independently choose research directions and carry out innovative researches.
