According to the latest ESI report in March 2023, following the “Computer Science” in 2022, the “Geosciences” of our university has taken a great step forward, entering the top 1% of the ESI global ranking for the first time with outstanding performance.
Our university has published a total of 335 SCI/SSCI papers in the field of geosciences, with a citation of 22.22 times per paper in average. All the papers are published in journals under the IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, such as TGRS/GRSL/JSTARS, Remote Sensing, Chinese Journal of Geophysics, etc. Among the 17 highly cited papers in geosciences, 10 have BUCT as first/corresponding author’s affiliation, all of which are from the field of remote sensing science and technology. Out of the 10 published papers, the faculty and students from the College of Information Science and Technology contributed 9 as first/corresponding authors, and 1 as co corresponding author, the details are as follow:
The College of Information Science and Technology has attached great importance to the discipline construction of geosciences and remote sensing technology, and enhanced discipline strength and international influence in terms of discipline integration, professional construction, talent introduction and team building. Through the cross-disciplinary integration of specialties, our college fully utilizes the strength of various disciplines and improved the overall strength of geosciences by establishing cross-team collaboration between Information and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Technology. To energize discipline development through professional introduction, our college brought in a number of outstanding talents from universities and scientific institutions at home and abroad, including the Aerospace Information Research Institute of CAS, Institute of Geology and Geophysics of CAS, Mississippi State University (USA), etc. The professional introduction improved the quality of academic achievements steadily, helped our college in achieving a breakthrough in publishing papers in high quality journals and conferences in the field of geosciences, and also promoted BUCT’s “Remote Sensing Technology” to be listed in the ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects for three consecutive years (2020-2022), ranking in the range of 51-75.
The College of Information Science and Technology encourages organized collaboration between scientific teams in terms of professional introduction, induction policy, etc, which further stimulated the volume of scientific research projects as well as the quality of academic results, and contributed greatly to the quality development of our university in the 14th Five-Year Plan.
