On May 4th, Beijing University of Chemical Technology(BUCT) convened the 2023 Youth Day Commendation Conference, during which several outstanding groups and individuals from our college were awarded honorary titles.
Under the support of Party Committee of the College and the Youth League Committee of BUCT, the Communist Youth League Committee of the College of Information Science and Technology has always taken the talent cultivation as its fundamental task. It attaches great importance to the building of primary party organizations, inspires organizational vitality, and integrates the aim of serving students wholeheartedly into practice. With excellent performance in various activities, several progressive youth organizations and individuals have been seen, setting an example for young talents in information technology from generation to generation.
The Data Science and Big Data Technology 1901 Youth League Branch was awarded as one of the " Top 100 Most Contributing Active Youth League Branch in National Colleges and Universities".
Data 1901 Youth League Branch is diligent in learning and practical in innovation. There are currently 32 members of the Communist Youth League, including 8 Communist Party members, 3 party member candidate, and 11 applicants. The branch actively carries out various activities and implements the pattern of“three-level party meetings, two institutions, and one course". Under the leadership of the university and College Youth League Committee, all members of the Data 1901 Youth League Branch show their spirit with a positive reaction, with an average GPA of 3.28. They have been awarded many honors such as the top ten excellent class at the college level, the "Five Star Youth League Branch" in 2021 and 2022, the top 100 "Active Youth League Branch" of national level in 2022, and the " Red Flag Youth League Branch" of 2022, as well as outstanding primary Youth League branches. The Youth League branch fully leverages organizational cohesion, in encouraging branch members to actively participate in various scientific research competitions, achieving a scientific research participation rate of 100%. At the same time, they energetically participate in volunteer activities, and the total volunteer duration of the branch exceeds 1000 hours. The members in Data 1901 Youth League Branch have always exerted themselves to forge ahead.
The Youth League Committee of the College of Information Science and Technology was awarded "Red Flag Youth League Committee of BUCT"
Under the guidance of the College Party Committee and the University Youth League Committee, the Committee of the College of Information Science and Technology of the Communist Youth League incorporates the goal of promoting the development of young talents into the themed activities of implementing the spirits of the Party’s 20th National Congress, and encourage the youth members to make contributions to the construction of the university with solidarity. The "three-level party meetings, two institutions, and one course" pattern has been fully implemented. Several learning activities about the Party’s 20th National Congress have been organized, with teachers and students of the whole college involved. A series of themed class meetings and group day activities such as "practicing diligence and thrift against extravagance and waste" have been held. To enhance the construction of primary organizations, standardization of party and youth league organizations has been carried out, and the training of university-society engagement for graduating students has been organized, which helps the employment rate reaching 100% higher than other colleges. The work of ideological and moral cultivation of young members has been further promoted, such as extensive online learning of the Youth , with a completion rate of 98% in Grade 2020-2022. The exemplary role of students has been carried forward. A total of 219 outstanding students at the college level have been awarded with thorough discussion, and 127 outstanding students have been recommend to be awared at the university level. The project of cultivating student party member has been implemented, 242 applicants for party member and 151 party member candidates have been accepted.
The Student Union of the College of Information Science and Technology has been awarded the title of "Model Student Union of BUCT"
Under the guidance of the College Party Committee, the Student Union of the College of Information Science and Technology always adhere to the purpose for wholeheartedly serving the students, taking "self-management, self-service, self-education, self-supervision" as a guidance. It sticks to the principle of "internal thinking and external practice" and implements the well-round education concept, committed to serve the students, playing an important role in linking the university, college and students.
The Student Union actively insists on exploration and innovation in the areas of thought leadership, organization construction, rights and interests’ maintenance, and the construction of unique college culture. The integration of class and group reform has been deepened, increasing the unity of the college and class. Some disciplinary - featured activities such as "smart car", "magic cube robot", and "LED lighting design competition" have been launched. The media publication has been strongly promoted. Columns such as "Xin Hui Yu Hua”, “Xin Huo Zhu Dang” and “Xin Da Si Fang" have been established, among which the series activities of Science and Technology Innovation Week has been reprinted and republished by 10 news media such as Guangming.com, People.com and so on. The story of Jiang Limin, a discharged college student from the military service, was reported by Beijing Daily and Beijing Youth Daily, and total page views amounting to over 100,000.
The Student Union of College of Information Science and Technology will continue to deepen the reform of the Student Union, firmly to promote the development of information talents and be strive to open a new developing chapter for the college.
The Publicity Department of the Youth League Committee and the Media Working Group of the Student Union of the College of Information Science and Technology were awarded the title of "Progressive Group in Youth League News and Publicity Work".
Under the guidance of the College Party Committee and University Youth League Committee, the Youth League Committee and the Student Union of the College of Information Science and Technology, upholding to the principle of well-round education, have actively explored for setting up a "four-dimensional" comprehensive education system with modernity, humanity, ideological depth, and emotional warmth, and keep implementing the reform plan of the Youth League work and the standardize management. The Publicity Department of the Youth League Committee and the Media Working Group of the Student Union of the College of Information Science and Technology are responsible for the publication of the College of Information Science and Technology, undertaking five kinds of tasks including graphic design, video production, news gathering and editing, new media operation, and photography.
The publicity team of the College of Information Science and Technology is rooted on networking platforms, giving full play to the advantages of public platforms and launching a series of promotions such as "Voice Your Thinking", "Beijing Winter Olympics", "the 20th National Congress", and "Traditional Festivals", to closely follow the trend of the times, give out the voice of youth, and make contributions to the society. The official WeChat account of the College of Information Science and Technology, "Beihua Information ERs", has gained 5,814 subscriptions, which is 231% of the total number of students in the college. In 2022, 324 original articles have been published through this platform, with a total reading of more than 300,000. More than 100 promotional materials have been designed and released from the platform. About 40 video shooting for various activities have been undertaken by the platform, and 15 excellent videos as well as 40 news report.
The Automatic Control 2001 Youth League Branch was awarded the title of "Red Flag Youth League Branch of BUCT".
There are 26 outstanding students in Class 1 of the Automation major, Grade 2020 at the College of Information Science and Technology. The Youth League Branch of the class attaches great importance to theory learning and ideology education and the "three-level party meetings, two institutions, and one course" pattern has been fully implemented. The weekly completion rate of extensive learning of the Youth has reached 100%. The branch has paid attention to the unity of the branch committee and class committee, working together to contribute to the class.
The branch always maintains a positive and progressive academic atmosphere while effectively establishing learning columns and Q&A activities. The average GPA of the class is 3.15, with a passing rate of 96% for CET-4 and 52% for CET-6. Students in the class have received more than 50 scholarships amounting to over 80,000 yuan. Branch members' participation rate in disciplinary competitions and scientific research innovation reaches 100%. Moreover, they have won 9 national awards, 30 more provincial awards, and 130 academic awards in total.
Branch members also actively participate in various student organizations and university sports teams. Furthermore, the branch takes its responsibilities in both volunteering activities and social practices. Their involvement in volunteering services could not only be seen in campus but also off-campus, and the total volunteering time of the branch members exceeds 1,400 hours.
Song Jiayin was awarded the title of "Campus Youth Role Model - The Star of BUCT".
Song Jiayin, a member of the Communist Youth League, is a 2020 undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science and Technology at the College of Information Science and Technology, BUCT. He is the Commissary in charge of organization of the class3 Grade 2000（？2020？） in Computer Science and Technology. He has been awarded multiple awards, including the 2022 University's Merit Students and the 2020 Excellent Student. In terms of academia, he has presided over a national (excellent level) innovation and entrepreneurship project for college students. He has published a high-level academic paper as a co-first author in the SCI Second District journal in the fields of Computers & Chemical Engineering. He applied for a national invention patent as the first inventor after his supervisor: a method based on heuristic algorithms to solve the design problem of an isolation wall distillation tower.
He has won more than 14 provincial and ministerial awards, including the 7th China International Internet plus National Finals, and 4 first prizes at the university level. He participated in the establishment of the MetaConcise Creative Workshop and the design and development of the VR Industrial Experience Hall, which has accepted 1500 experiencing participants. This creative workshop has now settled in the College Student Activity Center.
Liu Xuan was awarded the title of "Top 10 Youth League Branch Secretaries of BUCT".
Liu Xuan, a member of the Communist Youth League of China, is a 2021 undergraduate student majoring in Data Science and Big Data Technology at the College of Information Science and Technology, BUCT. She was the Secretary of the Computer Science A2106 Youth League Branch of the College of Information Science and Technology, and currently serves as the Commissary in charge of organization of the Data 2101,and a member of the host team at BUCT. She has been awarded the honors such as Outstanding Youth League Branch Secretary of BUCT in 2022, Outstanding Youth League Cadre of the Year, Outstanding Youth League Branch Secretary of the College of Information Science and Technology, Outstanding Youth League Member of the College, and Military Training Model. She has won the People's Scholarship for three times.
During her tenure as a Youth League branch secretary, Liu Xuan devoted herself to the construction of the Youth League branch with the original aspiration of truthful faith, sense of responsibility, and will of serving the collective and the country. She kept the General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions in mind and continued to promote the development path of the Youth League branch of "consolidating the foundation of ideals, practicing professional skills, and undertaking youth responsibility”. She strengthen ideological construction to enhance the political stance of the youth in the entire Communist Youth League, internalize the theory of the Party and Youth League in mind and externalize it in practice. She has close contact with young people with good working style. She actively puts “three meetings, two institutions, and one course" pattern into practice, and take the lead in practicing the requirements of "Three Stricts and Three Steadies". Based on the disciplinary advantages and characteristics of the Youth League branch, she works hard to build a branch with advanced thinking, excellent quality, unity and friendship.
Hu Shengxi was awarded the title of "Outstanding Individual in Communist Youth League News and Publicity Work".
Hu Shengxi, a member of the Communist Youth League and a 2020 undergraduate student majoring in Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments at the College of Information Science and Technology, BUCT. He currently serves as the publicity officer of the Measurement and Control 2001 class and the rotating chairman of the Information College Student Union. He previously served as a member of the photography department of the Lantian Media Center of the Information College, in charge of the media work group of the Student Union. Hu Shengxi has won various honors, including the "Best Video Award" and "Outstanding Essay Award" in the "Understand China" activity in 2022, as well as the Outstanding Student Cadre and Outstanding Youth League Member at the college and department levels, and the Military Training Model.
During his tenure as the publicity officer, Hu Shengxi organized new media skill training for the publicity officers of the 2021 and 2022 classes of the Information College, developed special posters for the Information College's characteristic activities, traditional Chinese festivals, and safety education days, embodying the characteristics of the college and promoting outstanding traditional culture. He paid attention to the concerns of his fellow students, kept up with the times, and relied on the Information College's network media platform to plot special themes such as "Voice Your Thinking", "Beijing Winter Olympics", and " Mission for Freshmen", helping the college's official WeChat account, North Chemical Information ERs, to achieve good ranking in new media competitions on the campus.
In addition, 9 of our college's Youth League branches, including Measurement and Control 2101, Automation 2101, and Computer Science 2101, were awarded "Outstanding Youth League Branch of BUCT" for 2022. Nine students including Zhou Chang, Ruan Yuxin, and Fang Ting, were awarded the title of "Outstanding Youth League Secretary of BUCT" for 2022, while 12 students, including Pu Lei, Wang Haohua, and Sun Hongyang, were awarded "Outstanding Youth League Cadre of BUCT" for 2022. Besides, 33 students, including Luo Ziqing, Wang Junjie, and Pan Haotian, were awarded "Outstanding Youth League Member of BUCT" for 2022.
"Carrying forward the spirit of revolutionary and inheriting the power of striving forward", the College of Information Science and Technology will continue to carry on the spirit of role models, unite the vitality of youth, strengthen theoretical education, and improve the political stance and theoretical level of young people in the future work.
