35th Frontier Academic Salon on "Science in China: Information Science" Successfully Held

Beijing University of Chemical Technology's School of Information Science and Technology successfully held the 35th Frontier Academic Salon on Science in China: Information Science on June 18, 2023. The Academic Salon saw the presence of distinguished attendees, including Professor Youqing Wang, the Dean of the School of Information Science and Technology, Professor Dazi Li, the Vice Dean of the School of Information Science and Technology, Academician Jifeng Zhang from the International Academy of Systems and Control Sciences and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Science in China: Information Science, Professor Dayi Wang from the Beijing Spacecraft General Design Department, Professor Chunhui Zhao from Zhejiang University, Professor Xianghui Cao from Southeast University, Professor Ke Zhang from Chongqing University, Professor Jiantao Shi from Nanjing Tech University, Editor Kai Jiang from the editorial department of Science in China: Information Science, as well as key faculty members, young teachers, masters, and doctoral students from the School of Information Science and Technology.

The opening ceremony of the salon was presided over by Professor Dazi Li, while Professor Youqing Wang, and Professor Jifeng Zhang delivered their respective opening speeches. Professor Youqing Wang extended a warm welcome and heartfelt greetings to the esteemed experts in attendance, expressing gratitude for their attention and support towards the school's development. He also took the opportunity to provide an overview of the School of Information Science and Technology, highlighting its recent achievements and progress.

Professor Jifeng Zhang presented an overview of the journal "Science in China: Information Science" and summarized the progress of the academic salon series. He expressed that through the collective efforts of everyone involved, the journal's influence has gradually increased, making it a significant academic publication both domestically and internationally. This has greatly enhanced the international impact of domestic journals in China. He advocated for the publication of outstanding research achievements in excellent domestic academic journals, emphasizing the importance of contributing to the development of scientific endeavors in China.

The academic salon focused on the theme of "Complex Systems Security Analysis and Control" and featured seven renowned domestic scholars who delivered captivating academic presentations. Professor Dayi Wang, Professor Chunhui Zhao, Professor Xianghui Cao, Professor Ke Zhang, Professor Jiantao Shi, and representatives of our outstanding young teachers, Professor Yongming Han and Associate Professor Li Liang, delivered invited reports on topics such as "Autonomous Fault Diagnosis and Reconstruction Methods for Spacecraft", "From Zero-Shot Learning Theory Models to Industrial Fault Diagnosis Applications", "Research on Privacy Protection in Perception and Control of Cyber-Physical Systems", "Industrial Process Operation Safety Analysis and Fault Diagnosis", "Intelligent Health Assessment and Life Prediction of Phased Array Radar T/R Modules", "Energy Efficiency Analysis and Optimal Control in Chemical Processes" and "Research on Autonomous Decision-Making of UAV Swarm for Penetration Tasks". In conclusion, Deputy Editor Kai Jiang delivered a presentation under the theme of "Striving for Excellence and Serving the Frontiers of Science." She highlighted the active measures undertaken by the journal to address the concurrent situation of opportunities and challenges in the field. The presentation aimed to provide an insight into the journal's proactive approach in maintaining first-class quality and staying at the forefront of scientific research.

The salon also featured a special panel discussion session where experts engaged in exchanges and discussions with young teachers. The topics covered various aspects, including conducting research, mentoring students, project applications, integrating theory with practice, and maintaining work-life balance.

The successful hosting of this academic salon has facilitated academic exchanges and collaborations, enhanced the understanding and recognition of our university among scholars from various fields. It has also deepened the awareness and comprehension of young teachers and students regarding frontier issues in the relevant field. This event has provided impetus for the development of the discipline of "Control Science and Engineering" in our institute and has contributed to accelerating the pace of our university's "Double First-Class" construction.
