Recently, the final competition of the 5th "Shenhao Cup" China Graduate Robot Innovation and Design Competition was held in Changsha, Hunan Province. A total of 1,177 teams from nearly 240 universities and research institutions registered for the competition. After the preliminary judging, 288 teams from 96 universities and research institutions advanced to the finals. The School of Information submitted two projects, one of which won the national second place and another received a first prize.
The project "Wearable Blind Navigation Robot in Unfamiliar Indoor Environments," guided by Professor Cao Zhengcai from the School of Information, and composed of graduate students Mou Hongmin, Sun Yiyang, Ma Zhe, Shi Yinbin, and Xia Ji, won the national second place. The project "Ultra-Redundant Wheel-Arm Robot for Deep Cavity Operations on High-End Equipment," guided by Dr. Zhang Dong and developed by graduate students Gai Yan, Ju Renjie, Lao Ju, and Wang Dengshuo, received a national first prize.
The 5th "Shenhao Cup" China Graduate Robot Innovation and Design Competition is supervised by the Ministry of Education's Degree and Graduate Education Division and organized by the China Association for Science and Technology Youth Science and Technology Center. It is one of the "China Graduate Innovation Practice Series Competitions" and one of the most prestigious, largest, and widely influential national graduate discipline competitions in China.
