On Wednesday, August 2, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., we invited Prof. Dominic Foo, a fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Malaysia, to give a wonderful presentation to our students and faculty. He is top 2% world-renowned scientist according to Stanford List, working in process integration for resource conservation and CO2 reduction. Professor Foo is an active author, with 10 books, more than 200 journal papers and made more than 240 conference presentations, with more than 30 keynote/plenary speeches. He served as International Scientific Committees for many important international conferences (CHISA/PRES, FOCAPD, ESCAPE, PSE, SDEWES, etc.).
Prof. Foo's presentation, entitled Process System Engineering (PSE) Tools for Achieving Carbon Neutrality, was moderated by Professor Youqing Wang, Dean of the College of Information Science and Technology.
Firstly, Prof. Youqing Wang introduced Professor Foo to the students and faculty present. Prof. Foo then shared the environmental changes caused by carbon emissions in recent years, leading to the importance of global carbon neutrality efforts. Prof. Foo pointed out that over the past decade researchers have proposed a variety of PSE tools to address a variety of carbon management issues, including reducing the carbon footprint of a product, reducing carbon dioxide emissions at the plant level and avoiding greenhouse gases on a regional or national scale.
After Prof. Foo's presentation, the teachers and students actively engaged in interactive questioning with him. Prof. Foo patiently answered everyone's questions, and the faculty and students greatly benefited from the seminar. The seminar was a complete success.
