On August 22, 2024, under the guidance of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and sponsored by the Chinese Institute of Electronics, the "2024 World Robot Competition - Inclusive Robot Challenge" innovation and creativity group final was held in Beijing. A total of 19 teams from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Tianjin University, Dalian University of Technology and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences competed fiercely. In the end, the "Bright Vision Zhixing" team composed of Mou Hongmin, Sun Yiyang, Xia Ji, Ma Zhe and Wang Dengshuo, the graduate students under the guidance of Professor Cao Zhengcai of the School of Information, won the first prize.

The team developed an "OpenAEye Aid for Blindness" that uses AI technology to enable blind people to "open their eyes and see the world", overcoming challenges such as active cognition of indoor environment, topological semantic mapping and positioning, cross-modal understanding and interaction, and assisting blind people to reach destinations independently according to the needs of the blind, empowering the blind to travel.

The Inclusive Robot Challenge is the theme competition of the major research program of "Research on Fundamental Theories and Key Technologies of Inclusive Robots", which provides a new platform for learning, display, communication and competition for universities, institutions and enterprises engaged in the research of inclusive robots, and promotes the innovative development and talent training of the basic theories, technologies and industries of inclusive robots.
