Introduction


The College of Information Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the CIST) of Beijing University of Chemical Technology was founded in 2000 by the merger of the former Department of Automation (established in 1971) and the Department of Computer Science (established in 1987). The development of the college can be traced back to 1958 when Beijing University of Chemical Technology (formerly Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology) established the majors of "Production Process Automation" and "Automation Equipment and Instrumentation". Since its establishment, the college has been adhering to the college motto of "Great learning, chemical education and natural engineering", and has been exploring and innovating in the fields of automation, informatization and modernization. In 1981, our college became one of the first units to obtain the master's degree in control theory and control engineering after the national resumption of graduate education. In 1994, our university successfully connected to the Internet, becoming one of the first universities in China to achieve Internet access. The high quality development of our college in the field of information has laid a solid foundation for our college to train high-level talents in information science.

At present, CIST has 4 departments (Department of Automation, Department of Measurement and control Technology, Department of Computer, Department of Information Engineering), with 2 provincial and ministerial level research institutions and 9 university level research institutions, covering a wide range of fields from basic research to engineering applications. The college has formed distinct research characteristics in the disciplines of industrial intelligence and system optimization, process control and safety engineering, machine vision and robotics, software testing and verification, and has made a series of innovative achievements, promoting the development and application of cutting-edge technology. It has made remarkable achievements in basic research, technological innovation and engineering application, and has the ability to undertake and complete major national scientific research tasks and promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. In the past three years, the college has researched 143 national and provincial vertical projects, including 67 National Natural Science Fund projects including Outstanding Youth Science Fund and Outstanding Youth Science Fund, and more than 300 cooperation projects with enterprises, with a total research funding of more than 120 million yuan. The faculty has published more than 1,500 academic papers, including 568 high-level academic papers (SCI, SSCI) and 259 papers in top journals. The company has authorized 113 invention patents and won 21 scientific and technological awards, including 6 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards from the Ministry of Education and Beijing.

In recent years, CIST has continuously increased the introduction of talents, focused on improving the level of teaching staff, and created a team of teachers with profound academic attainments, strong innovative spirit and dedication. Currently there are 157 faculty members, Among them, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 national expert with special contribution, 1 national special expert, 1 winner of the National "Outstanding Young Science Fund", 1 member of the Chinese Society of Automation, 1 winner of the national "Outstanding Young Science Fund", 3 New Century Outstanding Talents Support Plan of the Ministry of Education, 1 Capital Science and Technology leading talent, and Beijing New Science and Technology Four people were selected for the Star Project. The college has also hired well-known scholars at home and abroad, including Turing Award winners, academicians of the International Nuclear Energy Institute, and Special professors of the National Cheung Kong Scholars, as honorary professors and adjunct professors, further enhancing the academic influence of the college.

The College is committed to cultivating high-quality talents with innovative spirit and practical ability, and has established an international talent training system covering undergraduates, masters, doctors (including engineering doctors) and international students. Through excellent teaching and research, the college has sent a large number of outstanding talents to the field of global information science and technology, and continuously promoted the development of disciplines and technological innovation. The college has a postdoctoral research mobile station in Control Science and Engineering, a doctoral program in Control Science and Engineering, a master's program in Computer Science and Technology and Information and Communication Engineering, and a master's program in electronic information. The college offers 6 undergraduate majors, including automation, Computer Science and Technology, measurement and control technology and instrument, electronic information engineering, Data science and Big Data Technology, and artificial intelligence. Among them, Automation major has been rated as a national characteristic major, and 4 majors, including Automation, Computer Science and technology, measurement and control technology and instrument, and electronic information engineering, have been selected as national first-class professional construction points. The major of Data Science and Big Data technology was selected as a first-class professional construction site in Beijing, and the first batch of excellent engineer automation experimental classes of the Ministry of Education were set up. At present, the college has more than 750 doctoral and master's students and more than 2,500 undergraduate students, and the employment rate of graduates has been in the forefront of the college for a long time.
