Department of Information Engineering

The Department of Information engineering (IE) was established in 1996. As being constructed for more than 10 years, IE currently has about 17 faculties now, including 3 professors, 6 associate professors and 8 assistant professors. 14 of them own a Ph.D. degree from the foreign or domestic elite universities or the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute.

According to the reality of current demand for talent, the spirit of innovation and the ability to research are highly emphasized in professional trainings, to cultivate advanced engineering and technical personnel in research, application or complex. The Department of Information Engineering has two branches, namely, Electronic Information Engineering and Communication Engineering. The former is a supporting discipline of the electronic information industry; while, the latter is a foundation in the field of communication which is highly dynamic and rapidly developing. Both programs have high employment rates due to the great social demands. The Department of Information Engineering has 1 school-level teaching master, 4 school-level teaching achievements, and 3 school-level excellent courses. Undergraduate students participate actively in kinds of academic competitions, including national electronic design contest and national DSP application and design contest, and obtained 3 times 1st prize and 22 times provincial prize. Students take part in 6 national projects of undergraduate innovative and training program3, and 15 school projects. The Department of Information Engineering emphasizes cultivation practical ability, explores actively multi personnel training model, and establishes off-campus practice bases with Lenovo, ZTE, etc.

The Department of Information Engineering establishes 2 research teams: Signal & Information Processing and Communication & Information Transmission, carries out research activities, promotes professional development, and supports the discipline construction mainly around 3 academic research directions. The main research area includes: (1) Industrial Detection and Sensor Signal Processing; (2) Digital Image and Graphic Processing; and (3) Embedded Information Processing and Wireless Communication. More than 100 scientific papers have been published in the past 3 years, which includes 50 papers cited by SCI/EI. And 12 patents have been filed, including 5 invention patents. We also won a 2nd prize provincial-level scientific award, and obtained millions of research funds in the past few years.
