The Department of Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentation offers a bachelor degree in Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentation, undertakes the master cultivation and teaching tasks for the secondary discipline of Measurement and Automation Devices, which is under master-level discipline of Control Science and Engineering and enrolls Ph.D. students in the direction of Measurement and Automation Devices.

The department determines the cultivation goal of Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentation major in the electronic information platform. The major courses embody the combination of light-machine-electricity, computers and control technology, highlighting the industry school’s discipline development features in measurement and control for petroleum and chemical production processes.

The Department of Measurement and Control Technology has made great development in education, subject construction, and scientific research via “211 project” in recent years. In terms of undergraduate teaching and talent cultivation, the Automation Device is awarded as an excellent course in Beijing, and several textbooks have been chosen as the national textbooks by the "12th Five-Years Program". It has won an education achievement award of Beijing district and formed a pragmatic and innovative teaching and research system.

The Department of Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentation has many faculties with high quality, including one doctoral supervisor and one instrument pedagogical member of the steering committee in Ministry of Education, of which 85% own Ph. D. Most of faculties have educational background from the national key 985, 211 colleges and universities, and three of them have foreign training experience. The department has formed the research directions of distinctive characteristics and obvious advantages, such as the detection and control of industrial process parameters, intelligent detection and intelligent control, system integration and system optimization, process safety inspection and safety warning, oil pipeline leak detection, machine vision inspection and artificial intelligence, etc. Students supervised in the department have received awards in the National Electronic Contest, the Freescale Car Racing, “Embedded Development and Application” of the National Information Technology Application Contest and so on. The number of undergraduate students who participate in Student Scientific Research Start Scheme Project has been increasing year by year. Students' practical ability has been improved greatly.
