Our University Successfully Hosts the 2026 Beijing Collegiate Programming Contest

On May 10, 2026, the 2026 Beijing Collegiate Programming Contest, organized by the Beijing Collegiate Programming Contest Committee and jointly hosted by Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Huawei, was successfully held at Huawei Beijing Research Center. A total of 92 teams from 44 universities, including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Beihang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, and Guangdong University of Technology, participated in the contest. Huawei Beijing Research Center and BenQ provided venue and hardware support for the event.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Feng He, Party Secretary of the College of Information Science and Technology of our university; Mr. Wang Bin, Director of the Data Communication Department at Huawei Beijing Research Center; and Gong Jinxun, a student representative from Beihang University, each delivered excellent speeches. Secretary Feng He first introduced the basic situation of our university, affirmed the positive contributions of the ACM contest to the development of China's IT industry and the selection of outstanding top talents, expressed his earnest expectations for the participating students, and, on behalf of the university, thanked Huawei, the Beijing Collegiate Programming Contest Committee, and fellow universities for their strong support in organizing the contest. Finally, he wished all contestants the best performance in the competition.

Professor Feng He, Party Secretary of the College of Information Science and Technology; Professor Liu Yong and Professor Zhou Xiaolin from the ACM contest team, as representatives of the host organizer from our university, attended the opening ceremony. Also present were representatives of the sponsors, including Professor Zhang Liang, Chief AI Architect of Huawei's Data Communication Product Line; Mr. Wang Bin, Director of the Beijing Research Division of the Data Communication Product Line; Mr. Wang Xuelong from the Data Communication Human Resources Department; and other Huawei leaders. Coach representatives from Peking University, Nanjing University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing Jiaotong University, Communication University of China, Beijing Forestry University, and other universities also attended the ceremony.

Each participating team in the Beijing Collegiate Programming Contest consisted of three members. The official competition lasted five hours, and the supported programming languages included C, C++, Java, and Python. The contest adopted an on-site programming format with real-time judging and real-time rankings. During the contest, each team shared one computer to solve problems. After completing a problem, the team submitted its code to the server for real-time automated judging. For each accepted problem, the team received a balloon of the corresponding color.

At the award ceremony, Professor Ye Hairong, a special guest of the Beijing Collegiate Programming Contest and coach of the ACM training team at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, presented an exciting live scoreboard reveal with the assistance of technical volunteers. Professor Ye's humorous remarks and deep understanding of programming contests created a highly engaging scoreboard presentation, attracting the attention of all teachers and contestants. Cheers and warm applause frequently filled the venue.

During the closing ceremony, teachers and students from different universities engaged in free discussions. They shared their contest experiences, exchanged problem-solving insights, and made friends with like-minded peers, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere. After the contest, a game area was also set up at the Huawei venue, where students could play games and win prizes, bringing the day's competition to a pleasant close.

After five hours of intense competition, Nanjing University's team "Three Little Pigs" won the championship, Beihang University's team "Tianzhubi" won the runner-up prize, and Tsinghua University's team "Suddenly Realizing the Past Is Already Years Behind" won third place. Our university sent five teams, consisting of 15 undergraduate students, to participate in the contest. Among them, the team "Let One WA Lead to Another WA," composed of Peng Tianqi, Jiang Hao, and Chen Haoran, and the team "I Have Hit Iron Three Times," composed of Ni Yalun, Chang Qinbao, and Lin Zipei, each successfully solved six problems and won bronze medals.

To ensure the smooth operation of this year's Beijing Collegiate Programming Contest, with strong support from the Academic Affairs Office and the College of Information Science and Technology, our university's ACM training team carried out extensive preparatory work before the contest. More than 50 volunteers held multiple discussions with Huawei before the event and undertook meticulous work in contest registration, information collection, reception of teachers and students, venue arrangement, system installation, contest proctoring, technical support, scoreboard reveal and award presentation, and on-site hosting. They demonstrated excellent morale and a strong spirit of volunteer service, successfully completing all assigned tasks.
